$OG Price and Volume Soar Despite Defeat in The International

Although esports team OG failed to win The International (TI2026) in Shanghai, the OG Fan Token® ($OG) has been on something of a tear the past week.

The value of the token has climbed 16% over the past seven days, with trade volumes also rocketing over the weekend.

Volumes that had stood at just $1.3M on Friday morning blew past $12M on Sunday night and remain elevated at the time of writing.

No Win, No Problem: How $OG Rocketed

Although sports results are often linked to token sentiment, the recent performance of $OG proves that sentiment can climb even when results themselves are poor. 

This year’s Dota 2 tournament was one to forget for OG, who were eliminated after defeats to GamerLegion, BoomBoys, Nigma, and Team Resilience. Nevertheless, $OG was one of the best-performing Fan Token® digital assets in the last week.

During one two-hour period on Sunday morning, $OG traders mobilized to drive the token’s price from $2.59 to $3.1, a gain of 19.6%. Despite meeting resistance, the token kept most of its gains after rebounding at $2.78, eventually hitting $3.04 late on Sunday evening.

This year’s International, Dota 2’s annual world championship, was held at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center and featured sixteen teams. Yesterday’s finale saw Team Spirit defeat pre-tournament favourites TEAM VISION 3-2 to lift their third Aegis of Champions and a $1.4M grand prize. 

OG, a two-time winner, had claimed the title the last time Shanghai hosted the event in 2019.
