How the Fan Token® Ecosystem Processed $22.3 Billion in 25/26 Season

Last season, the Fan Token® ecosystem processed over $22.3 billion in trading volume with no fewer than seven individual assets surpassing the $1 billion milestone.
The landmark figure represents the total trading volume between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026, pulling data from 85 Fan Token® digital assets on the Chiliz Chain.
Last season, trade volumes were boosted by the on-field success of major Chiliz partners such as Paris Saint-Germain, who won a Ligue 1-and-UCL double, and Barcelona, who coasted to their second consecutive La Liga title.
The $22.3 billion figure was supplied by CoinGecko and details the exchange volume across all trading platforms rather than in-app marketplace activity on Socios.
Which Fan Tokens Generated the Biggest Volume?
Last season, the top seven assets – those whose trade volume eclipsed $1 billion – were the Fan Tokens of OG Esports ($OG), AS Roma ($ASR), Juventus ($JUV), Atlético Madrid ($ATM), Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG), FC Barcelona ($BAR), and Manchester City ($CITY).
Assets ranked 8th to 11th on the list all managed over $500 million in trade volume during last season, with two of them – Arsenal ($AFC) and Inter Milan ($INTER) – winning their respective league titles.

In ninth place was the Argentine Football Association ($ARG), whose trade volume was aided by the nation’s memorable run to the World Cup final.
What does the $22.3bn figure tell us? Well, clearly the ecosystem continues to attract significant attention from sports-minded traders, despite the wider market turning risk-off earlier this year.
Although it still remains a comparatively small slice of the global digital asset industry, the SportFi space is maturing, with a growing number of users starting to recognize the link between market sentiment and real-world sporting events.
Why Next Season Could Be Even Bigger
Trading on this scale happened against the backdrop of Chiliz’ announcement of its 2030 vision, which outlined developments like omni-chain expansion, performance-driven tokenomics, and plans to combine Real World Assets (RWAs) with Fan Tokens to create a hybrid asset class that bridges utility and equity.
Chiliz’ subsequent announcement that the first five U.S. Fan Token® digital assets would land before the end of the year further boosted market confidence, which raises another salient point: if annual trade volumes were $22.3 billion without U.S. team assets, what could the figure be a year after they land? Particularly given Chiliz’ goal of onboarding 30 university athletic departments before the end of 2026.
With the regulatory picture improving, the arrival of U.S. Fan Tokens will enable traders to tap into the world’s biggest sport market, while teams will benefit from the same impressive revenue source their football (soccer) counterparts have enjoyed in recent years.
There is ample reason to suppose that next year will be even bigger for the SportFi ecosystem. After all, Fan Tokens only went omni-chain in April, with the latest flurry of assets – $MENGO, $FLU, $VERDAO, $VASCO, and $SPFC – not landing on the network until earlier this month.
The next 12 months will see a wider range of assets go omni-chain, while the arrival of U.S. tokens will set the stage for growth in the world’s leading digital asset market.
A Clear Roadmap
Prior to last season, Chiliz had yet to publish its 2030 manifesto. Now, with the football (soccer) calendar kicking into gear once again, and U.S. market re-entry imminent, there is a clear route ahead.
The $CHZ buyback protocol will be central to this vision, tying ecosystem activity to $CHZ scarcity by ring-fencing 10% of Fan Token® sale revenue for $CHZ buybacks.
The fact that there are now more Chiliz Fan Tokens in circulation also augurs well for the coming season, following the launch of new digital assets for Belgium ($BELG), South Africa ($SAFA), Scotland ($SFA), and Spain ($SPAIN) prior to the World Cup. Spain’s subsequent victory in the final was a major boon for the Chiliz ecosystem.
With the direction of travel locked in, it’s going to be another action-packed year in SportFi.
