Is Del Piero a Future Juventus President?
As recently as August, Del Piero was asked by Gazzetta dello Sport journalists whether he might one day return to Juventus, not as a player, but as a member of the boardroom.
The legend responded by saying: “I’ve been asked that question about a thousand times, and I answer like this: only God knows what will happen…”
Recently, Juventus’ former General Manager, Luciano Moggi, added his own thoughts to the discussion, stating that Juventus should prioritise getting the lineup right on the pitch before worrying about the lineup in the boardroom.
“Del Piero is an icon who belongs anywhere, but at this moment Juventus probably have as their priority building a strong team, one that scares opponents,” said Moggi, speaking to Radio Radio, as reported by Goal.com.
“Then, once an important team has been built, the presence of an important player like Del Piero certainly would not hurt,” Moggi added.
Alessandro Del Piero is regarded by many as the very living embodiment of Juventus Football Club, holding the records for the most appearances and the most goals.
He earned the everlasting love of the Juventus faithful after staying with the club when they were relegated to the second tier in 2006, when a player of his class could have had his pick of any team in the world.
