Why Barcelona’s Return to La Liga Summit Sparked a 13.2% Jump in $BAR

Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Levante on Sunday (Feb. 22) returned them to the top of La Liga, making $BAR one of the weekend’s top-performing Fan Tokens with 13.2% gains, per Socios.com data.
In maintaining their 100% home record, Hansi Flick’s men took full advantage of Real Madrid’s shock defeat to Osasuna 24 hours earlier, and they now sit a point above Los Blancos after 25 games.
Why Traders Bet Big On $BAR After Real Defeat
Real Madrid have suffered the least number of defeats of all La Liga teams this season, so it was little wonder their upset 2-1 loss away to Osasuna caused traders to enter the Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) after full-time.
After the final whistle confirmed Real’s defeat, $BAR began its march, and over the next 11 hours it rose from $0.489 to $0.554, a jump of 13.2%. Clearly, traders expected Barcelona to get all three points against second-bottom Levante in Sunday’s game.
The figures for 24hr trading volume were even more impressive, climbing from $1.6 million on Feb. 21 to a high of $18.7 million a day later (+1,068%).

Barcelona’s victory snapped a two-game losing streak, with the club having lost at Girona after being demolished 4-0 by Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinal.
Interestingly, the value of $BAR started to decline even before Barcelona took to the field against Levante, falling from a weekend high of $0.554 on Sunday morning to $0.504 on Monday morning (-9%).
What Will $BAR Do Next?
The fact that $BAR popped after Real’s defeat was to be expected, but some would’ve anticipated continued momentum on Sunday rather than a swift decline, so where might it go now?
Last week, we asked “Is the Barcelona Fan Token undervalued going into the home straight of the season?” Among other points, we noted that Barcelona are alive in three competitions (La Liga, UCL, Copa del Rey), albeit they face an uphill struggle to overturn the aforementioned 4-0 deficit against Atlético.
With so many big, season-defining games coming up, the potential for $BAR to make further gains is evident, particularly given the token stood at $1.33 on the opening day of the season.
Dates for $BAR traders’ diaries include Mar. 3, when they meet Atlético in the Copa del Rey, and Mar. 10/11, when the first leg of their UCL last-16 tie takes place. If Barcelona can go into those clutch games while still top of the league, optimism for further appreciation could be high.
