How Argentina Fan Token™ ($ARG) Jumped 68% as Messi Breaks English Hearts

Argentina are one match away from retaining the World Cup for the first time since 1962 after booking a place in the final following a 2-1 win over England in Atlanta on Wednesday, July 15.
For the first time in the history of the World Cup – and of Fan Tokens™ – the final will be contested between two Fan Token nations, with Argentina ($ARG) set to meet Spain ($SPAIN) on July 19.
The occasion marks the second time in 2026 that a major football event has been contested between two Fan Token™ clubs, after Paris-Saint Germain ($PSG) beat Arsenal ($AFC) in the Champions League final.
The reaction was immediate both inside the stadium and across the Fan Token market.
$ARG Price Jumps on Semi-Finals Win
Within minutes of the final whistle, the Argentina Football Association Fan Token™ ($ARG) climbed 68%, rising from $0.134 to $0.226.

Trading volume also surged from approximately $900,000 to $6.4 million at the time of writing as attention turned towards Argentina’s place in the final.

Anthony Gordon appeared to have put England on course for their first final since 1966 when he opened the scoring in the 55th minute. However, Enzo Fernández equalised with five minutes remaining before substitute Lautaro Martínez struck in stoppage time, converting from Lionel Messi’s assist to send the reigning champions through.
Argentina will now face Spain in Sunday’s final, but the victory has already produced another consequence for $ARG holders. Under Chiliz’ Burn to Glory campaign, the result activates a burn equivalent to 7.5% of Argentina’s remaining treasury reserves.
How Much $ARG Will Be Burned?
Argentina had already recorded six tournament victories before facing England, permanently removing a cumulative 160,090 $ARG from treasury holdings.
The burn percentage has increased with every stage of the competition. Group-stage victories activated burns equivalent to 1% of the treasury balance, followed by 2% in the round of 32, 2.5% in the round of 16 and 5% following Argentina’s quarter-final victory over Switzerland.
The rate rose to 7.5% for the semi-final. Based on the treasury balance remaining after the Switzerland burn, Argentina’s victory over England is expected to remove approximately 88,692 additional $ARG.
Once completed, that would take Argentina’s cumulative Burn to Glory total to approximately 248,782 $ARG.
The tokens are removed from treasury holdings and not from the balances of individual Fan Token™ holders. The England victory therefore represents the largest single $ARG burn of the tournament so far.
Argentina vs Spain: Who Will Burn to Glory?
Argentina will meet Spain in the final on Sunday, July 19, after Spain defeated France 2-0 in the first semi-final.

The matchup guarantees that the tournament will end with another national team Fan Token™ burn. Both finalists are participating in Burn to Glory, meaning the winning team will trigger a burn equivalent to 10% of its remaining treasury reserves.
Argentina are attempting to become the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to retain the title. Victory would secure a fourth global crown for La Albiceleste while activating the biggest possible $ARG burn of the campaign.
Spain, meanwhile, have their own Fan Token™ supply on the line and will enter the final after eliminating France without conceding.
A total of 4.39M $SPAIN tokens have been burned during the World Cup so far. The larger amount compared to $ARG is explained by the fact that $SPAIN is a newer token, and has a larger treasury reserve to begin with.
