La Liga Preview Matchweek 2: Fan Tokens with a Point to Prove

For some teams in matchweek one of La Liga, things went just as expected, while for others, things didn’t go quite to plan.

Teams like Atletico Madrid ($ATL) and Sevilla ($SEVILLA) will be looking to correct the losses of last weekend, while Barcelona ($BAR) will be aiming to consolidate their first-place position with another win against newly-promoted Levante ($LEV).

Let’s take a look at La Liga Fan Tokens ahead of matchweek two.

Levante ($LEV) vs Barcelona ($BAR)

Levante have the home advantage against Barcelona this weekend, but without being too harsh to the newly promoted team, that may be the full extent of their chances against a very strong Barcelona side.

That said, despite some ups and downs,, the Levante U.D Fan Token ($LEV) has remained fairly stable, staying within the $0.07 – $0.09 range for much of the past month – and is actually up 2% at time of writing.

The FC Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) spiked to the tune of 4% in the past 24 hours, but remains up and down. After a month in which it gained 24%, the $BAR token has declined 7% in the past week.

Atletico Madrid ($ATM) vs Elche

The newly promoted Elche managed a draw at home to Betis last week, while Atleti lost away to Espanyol.

Elche will be hoping to repeat their away-day heroics against Atleti this week, but after spending over $200 million in an expansive summer rebuild, Diego Simeone’s men will have a point to prove.

After logging 94% growth in the month of July, The Atletico Madrid Fan Token ($ATM) is down 11% for the week – perhaps a reflection of last week’s 2-1 loss to Espanyol. The result of this match could reveal just how well Simeone’s new $200 million squad are gelling together.

Osasuna vs Valencia ($VCF)

Valencia could only manage a draw against Real Sociedad ($RSO) last week, but considering those teams finished 11th and 12th last season, perhaps a draw was the expected result.

Valencia face tough opposition in the plucky Osasuna, who finished three places above them last season, and this match could swing either way.

The Valencia CF Fan Token ($VCF) gained 26% in the month leading up to the new season, but is down 5% on the day of writing. However, that could just be a blip considering the $VCF token is still up 46% since June.

Real Sociedad ($RSO) vs Espanyol

After a 1-1 draw against fellow Fan Token team Valencia ($VCF) last week, Real Sociedad may fancy themselves favourites for a win against Espanyol this week – although Espanyol’s 2-1 win against Atleti will give Real Sociedad pause for thought.

The Real Sociedad Fan Token ($RSO) is up by nearly 2% on the day of writing, but despite a spike to the $0.07 mark during the past week, the token remains at the $0.05 price it was at seven days ago.

But $RSO is still up 25% since early August, so there’s hope for Real Sociedad this weekend both on and off the pitch.

Sevilla FC ($SEVILLA) vs Getafe

Sevilla lost 3-2 in a closely fought match away to Athletic Bilbao last week, and won’t have an easy match against Getafe who finished four places (yet just one point) above them in the league last season.

Despite some major swings for the Sevilla FC Fan Token ($SEVILLA) token this month, it currently occupies the same price point at which it started thirty days ago. The token is up 3.2% on the day of writing – a sign that Seville are fancied for a result against Getafe this weekend?
