Will Barcelona Justify Favourite Tag by Winning in Paris & Boosting $BAR?

On Tuesday night (Oct. 20), an unstoppable force meets an immovable object as Barcelona attempt to down Champions League rulers Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital.
For the Catalan giants, the collision represents an opportunity to underline their status as tournament favourites. PSG, meanwhile, intend to lay down a marker ahead of a historic ‘three-in-a-row’ bid.
Let’s look ahead to the match, and summarize the latest data relating to their official Fan Token® digital assets.
PSG vs Barcelona: Who Has the Edge?
Prediction markets and bookmakers are almost evenly split at the time of writing, with Barça appearing to have a very slight edge.
Both teams have won their first two matches in the competition, putting them joint-top of the table on goal difference alongside Aston Villa ($AVL). While hosts PSG have won six in a row in all competitions, Barcelona’s win streak has reached double figures (11).
In fact, the last time Hansi Flick’s men tasted defeat was on May 23, when they lost 3-1 to Valencia on the last day of the 25/26 season – with the league title already sewn up.

Of course, Paris Saint-Germain are double Champions League winners for a reason and often reserve their best form for this competition. The last time they lost on this stage was in January, when they went down 2-1 to Sporting CP in Lisbon.
Les Parisiens have defeated Barça in their most recent head-to-heads, including a 2-1 win at Camp Nou in last season’s league phase.
Neither team has the luxury of being full strength. The casualty list for the champions includes left-back Nuno Mendes, while the Blaugrana must do without defenders Jules Koundé and Eric Garcia. More positively for the Catalans, talisman Raphinha returned against Real Betis at the weekend after a period on the sidelines.
Given both sides’ form, and particularly the abundance of firepower at their disposal, fireworks are expected at the Parc des Princes.
Can Victory Propel Sluggish Tokens?
Amid a wider market downturn, neither of the club’s Fan Tokens are flying at the moment – although a statement win may turn things around.
At the time of writing, with the showdown a day away, the FC Barcelona Fan Token® ($BAR) is trading at $0.26, down 0.6% over the last 24 hours and 4.8% in the past week.

Currently valued at $0.42, the Paris Saint-Germain Fan Token® ($PSG) is down 3.1% in the last 24 hours and 6.6% for the week. Both are ranked among the top 5 SportFi assets by market cap.
On the day of Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray ($GAL) in Istanbul last Tuesday (Oct. 13), the value of $BAR climbed from $0.273 to $0.286 (+4.7%) before declining sharply. However, $PSG did not see such a bounce despite their 4-2 win over Manchester City the following day.
Whatever happens on the pitch, trade volumes for both assets are likely to rise as the match creeps closer. And the big showdowns keep coming: PSG face Olympique Lyonnais in a top-of-the-table domestic clash on Sunday (Oct. 25), the same day Barça host Real Madrid.
