Why Turkish Football Fan Tokens Are Posting Double-Digit Weekly Gains

A glance at the top Fan Token climbers over the past week reveals an interesting fact: three of the teams are Turkish. Not only that, but they’re posting double-digit gains with 24hr volume in the millions.
Why are they moving? And can their impressive recent run continue?
Which Turkish Fan Tokens Are Climbing?
The three Turkish football Fan Tokens posting double-digit gains over the last week are Trabzonspor, Samsunspor, and Galatasaray.
The Trabzonspor Fan Token ($TRA) has made the biggest gains, its value having exploded by 30.7% over the last seven days per Socios.com, making it the second biggest climber behind esports team Natus Vincere ($NAVI) which has much lower volume.
Lying in third place is the Samsunspor Fan Token ($SAM) with a 23.7% rise in the last seven days (20.4% in the last 24hrs), and in fifth is the Galatasaray Fan Token ($GAL), which is up 18.1%.
Why Are Turkish Fan Tokens Rising?
To understand why the tokens may be rising, it is worth looking at what’s been happening on the pitch.
At the weekend all three clubs were in action: Trabzonspor posted an important 1-0 win over Rizespor, a result that kept them within touching distance of second-placed Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Süper Lig; Samsunspor bounced back from consecutive defeats to beat Kayserispor 2-1; and Galatasaray maintained their four-point lead at the league summit (with a game in hand) by thrashing İstanbul Başakşehir 3-0.
It’s not just value that’s been rising. In the case of $TRA, 24hr trade volume surged by an astonishing 7,195% between Mar. 13 and Mar. 14, surpassing $10m when it had been below $150k the day before.
Trabzonspor had posted their fourth consecutive win days earlier, before making it five on the spin with the Rizespor victory on Saturday.
While $SAM volumes have been much lower, they have risen dramatically too: from $222,206 a week ago to $787,952 at the time of writing (+254%). $GAL volumes exploded on Mar. 14, the day they saw off İstanbul Başakşehir, shooting past $12m from around $250k the day prior (+4,700%).
In the case of $GAL, it’s easy to see why sentiment is rising: they are top of their domestic league and hold a 1-0 advantage over Liverpool ahead of tonight’s UCL last-16 second leg, putting them in strong position to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.

As for the others, Trabzonspor is competing for second place and building momentum (four straight wins) ahead of a huge clash at home to Galatasaray on Apr. 5. While Samsunspor is toiling in the league (7th), they have an enormous second leg against Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League tomorrow (Mar. 19), where they will attempt to overturn a 3-1 deficit.
Whether these tokens can continue making gains likely depends on how the clubs fare on the pitch.
