Leeds Climbs While Others Fall
Leeds beat Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in 16 years on April 13 (the same day the $LUFC surge began), and pundits have generally agreed that the club’s 39 points are enough to keep it in the Premier League.

But Leeds’ climb to safety was also helped by the failure of other teams around them, namely the bottom three of Wolves, Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur.
Wolves are rooted to the bottom of the table with 17 points, and have won just two games out of their last 13.
Meanwhile, Burnley have won just one game out of their last 24 matches in the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur’s last win came in December, 2025, when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0, and the club has won just one of their last 19 games in the league, leading to the very real prospect of relegation.
After a shaky start to the season, Leeds are ending it well. While the players and manager won’t be celebrating just yet, their accrual of 39 points is likely to ensure Premier League competition for next season.
