How Did The International Send $OG Trade Volume Above $12M?

OG’s return to The International ended sooner than supporters hoped, but $OG market activity accelerated regardless. Here is how $OG’s performance illustrates the event-driven nature of Fan Tokens.
The OG Esports team failed to repeat its historic Shanghai triumph at The International 2026, but the organization’s return to Dota 2’s biggest tournament still generated considerable attention around the OG Fan Token ($OG).
The two-time champions were eliminated during the group stage following a difficult run of results. Nevertheless, $OG gained 16% over the seven days ending August 24, while market-wide trading volume climbed from $1.3 million on Friday morning to more than $12 million on Sunday night.
During one two-hour period, the token rose from $2.59 to $3.10, a gain of 19.6%. The movement arrived after OG had already been eliminated, illustrating that while results do matter, they aren’t the only source of demand in Fan Token markets.

OG Esports’ Return to The International
OG’s appearance at The International this year held special historical significance before a game had even been played.
OG had not competed at the tournament since 2022. It secured Southeast Asia’s sole qualification place by defeating Grind Back 3-1, earning a return to the city where OG beat Team Liquid in 2019 to become the first organization to win The International twice and retain the Aegis of Champions title.
OG remains one of Dota 2’s most prominent organizations despite an uneven year in competition. Its 2026 tournament finishes have ranged from third to 15th, but those results have done little to weaken its audience.
OG has the largest Facebook following of any Dota 2 team and ranks among the game’s most-followed organizations on Instagram and X. That reach is particularly notable because OG operates just three competitive teams, while several rivals field rosters across more than ten games and consequently have far more matches, players and content to attract attention.
Even with that narrower competitive footprint, OG ranks among the five most-followed esports organizations worldwide. Some estimates suggest its supporters account for roughly a quarter of Dota 2’s total audience.
This year’s exit from the group stages of The International didn’t immediately weaken traders’ belief in the potential value of the $OG Fan Token

$OG retained most of its weekly gains as trading activity accelerated during the tournament’s closing weekend.
$OG has an established trading history to match that audience. It became the first Esports token to reach a $100 million market cap valuation in 2025, and frequently attracts more trading action than the tokens of globally-renowned sporting institutions.
“As global connectivity evolves, the ways we interact are rapidly changing. The $OG Fan Token unlocks an entirely new dimension for our community to experience esports tournaments, breaking down geographical barriers for fans unable to attend The International 2026 in person,” said OG Esports CEO, Xavier Oswald.
We are deeply committed to innovating the fan experience, and our Fan Token is at the very heart of that mission,” Oswald added.
$OG generated more than $5 billion in market-wide trading volume during the 2025/26 season, making it the most-traded Fan Token over that period, according to a recent ecosystem report.
