How $ASR Volume Climbed 139% as AS Roma Secure Valuable UCL Draw

Roma marked its return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence with a hard-fought draw against Fenerbahçe in Istanbul (Sept. 10), a result that helped trade volumes for its official Fan Token® soar.

Let’s look at how the match played out, and discuss why the point meant more to $ASR than $FB.

Why Fenerbahçe Draw Boosted $ASR Trade Volumes

All league-phase UCL matches matter, but positive results away from home matter that bit more, and this partly explains why the AS Roma Fan Token® ($ASR)has attracted such attention over the past 24 hours.

At the time of writing, the morning after the 1-1 draw, $ASR trade volumes are $4.6M, marking a 139% daily rise. Volumes stood at $1.93M on matchday morning before climbing steadily throughout the day as anticipation grew.

Priced at $0.858 on September 10, the value of $ASR had climbed to $0.898 by late afternoon (+4.6%) although sentiment cooled even before kick-off and it is now valued at $0.843 despite the stalemate.

By contrast, the value of Fenerbahçe’s digital asset $FB has declined in recent days, this despite trade volumes increasing by 66% over the last 24 hours.

Yesterday, we reported that $ASR was comfortably out-trading $FB ahead of the game, a mark not just of $ASR’s deeper liquidity but its status as a multi-chain asset. Roma’s Fan Token® was one of just seven that exceeded $1 billion in trading volume last season.

The game itself was a lively affair, with Roma taking the lead through a fine Bryan Cristante strike in the first half, only for Fenerbahçe’s Archie Brown to dink the ball over the keeper to equalise early in the second half. 

As the contest wore on, Roma pressed for a winner but Fenerbahçe defended resolutely to keep the tie levelled at 1-1.

What’s Next for AS Roma?

Points away from home can be gold dust in the Champions League, at least for all but the continent’s elite. So, Roma will be happier than Fenerbahçe with the point.

Next month, the Italians host Real Madrid in their second league-phase game while Fenerbahçe travel to England to meet Europa League winners Aston Villa.

In the meantime, Roma are aiming to maintain their strong domestic form: they are currently top of Serie A after three wins from three, scoring ten and conceding just one. This Monday (Sept. 14), they travel to Torino before hosting reigning league champions Inter Milan next Saturday (Sept. 19).

Roma’s last trophy came in 2022, in the Europa Conference League, and they have not won the Scudetto since 2001. If they can retain top spot in Serie A into October, it could prove to be a significant catalyst for $ASR.
