Copa del Rey Win Sends Real Sociedad to Europe as $RSO Rockets 28%

Underdogs Real Sociedad claimed their fourth Copa del Rey on Saturday night, and the club’s Fan Token has certainly reflected supporters’ jubilation.
The Basque club were expected to put up a fight but ultimately lose against an Atlético Madrid side that had just qualified for the Champions League semifinal.
Instead, Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men secured their first silverware since 2019 and a spot in next season’s Europa League.
Here’s a look at what happened on the pitch and in the markets
$RSO Posts 28.6% Weekly Gains in Copa Triumph
Interestingly, the value of the Real Sociedad Fan Token ($RSO) started climbing in the days leading up to the final, with traders perhaps sensing weakness in an Atlético side who had battled Barcelona midweek.
Between April 14 and April 18, the day of the match, the value of $RSO increased from $.0522 to $.0603 (15.5%). And the momentum continued: over the last seven days, the token’s spot price has appreciated by 28.6%.
In our preview of the match on April 16, we noted that the last time the sides met in the competition, in 2022, Sociedad had won 2-0. We also predicted that UCL exertions may have sapped the vitality of Atlético’s players, and that an upset could be on the cards.
So it proved, as Real Sociedad twice took the lead before being pegged back. In the end, penalties were required to separate the sides and Sociedad keeper Unai Marrero was the man of the moment, saving two spot-kicks to secure victory.

While $RSO trends upward, the Atlético Madrid Fan Token ($ATM) is another story: having climbed 9% in the week leading up to the final, its value has dropped by about the same figure in the three days since the final.
What’s Next for $RSO and $ATM?
Although $RSO’s current price of $0.0662 represents a steep rise from last week, it is still below its all-time high of $0.841, set last May. Will the feel-good factor in the wake of the final continue pushing the token up? Or is a correction on the horizon?
Whatever happens in the coming days, the sentiment powering $RSO may depend on their league fortunes. Currently sitting seventh, two points behind Celta Vigo and four behind Real Betis (who they host on May 9), Sociedad could climb as high as fifth.
As for Atlético, they are comfortably sitting in fourth, assuring them Champions League football next season, and could conceivably catch Villarreal who are four points ahead.
There is also the small matter of a UCL semifinal against Arsenal ($AFC) coming up (April 29/May 5). When Atlético played Barcelona in the second leg of their quarterfinal, $ATM trade volume surged past $10.3M.
