Can $PSG Pull Away in Ligue 1 Title Battle by Beating Monaco Tonight?

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) renew their rivalry with Monaco tonight, and a victory for Luis Enrique’s men would send them seven points clear of a Lens side that have pushed them all the way this season.
The match marks the third time in less than a month PSG and Monaco have faced off, and the game could have a major impact on their respective Fan Tokens.
Why Trade Volumes Are Rising Ahead of PSG v Monaco
With tonight’s game just hours away, trade volumes for both the Paris Saint-Germain Fan Token ($PSG) and AS Monaco Fan Token ($ASM) are already on the move, as traders speculate on the outcome.
While 24hr volumes for $ASM have jumped to 187,149, a 127% increase from yesterday, $PSG has also generated renewed interest, with volumes pushing past $3m in recent hours (+108%) per Socios.com.
Both tokens have also seen a noticeable spike during the last 24 hours, although in each case a swift correction followed. Yesterday, the value of $ASM jumped from $0.090 to $0.095 (+5.5%) before returning to its previous level and tracking sideways.
$PSG, meanwhile, hit $0.738 yesterday, up from $0.710 (+3.9%) just hours earlier. As with the Monaco Fan Token, the rally was brief and $PSG is actually down 0.6% over the last 24 hours.
Why PSG v Monaco Matters
The last time the sides met, on Feb. 17 in the Champions League, the value of $ASM rose 6.2% after the team went ahead, which levelled the tie on aggregate. However, PSG soon hit back and after securing the draw that sent them through to the last-16, $PSG pocketed 3.7% intraday gains.
That tie might have been wreathed in Champions League glamour, but tonight’s rematch is just as consequential for the teams’ Ligue 1 hopes.
A PSG defeat, coupled with a Lens victory over bottom-placed Metz on Sunday, could slash the Parisians’ lead at the top to a single point.
Monaco, meanwhile, have their own ambitions: currently seventh, they are striving to secure a European spot for next season. They lie three points off fifth and six off fourth, with fifth place assuring entry to Conference League qualifying and fourth granting a berth in the Europa League.
Although PSG are heavy favourites to win at the Parc des Princes, Monaco are unbeaten in their last six league games, and did PSG a favour by beating Lens during this period (Feb. 21). Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Rennes (Feb. 13) and also lost to 1-0 Monaco when they last met in the league (Nov. 29).
With three points vital for both teams, expect fireworks when hostilities are renewed. A win for the home team could prime $PSG for an upward move ahead of their UCL tie with Chelsea next week (Mar. 11), though defeat would embolden Lens and potentially send $ASM climbing.
