Belgium Score 5 to Secure Qualification as Over 160,000 $BELG Tokens Burn

Belgium secured qualification for the World Cup knockout stage at the last possible opportunity on June 27, after grabbing their first tournament win in an emphatic 5-1 thrashing of New Zealand.
Belgium had drawn their first two opening games of the World Cup which left them on just two points. Qualification from Group G was still very much up in the air until the Red Devils won their final game against New Zealand.
In line with Chiliz’ Burn to Glory campaign, Belgium’s win triggered the removal of 161,750 tokens from the total supply of the Belgium Fan Token™ ($BELG).
Belgium Secure Qualification for World Cup Playoffs
Belgium eventually finished top of Group G after winning their final game, qualifying for the next stage alongside Egypt, who matched Belgium’s two draws and one win.
Both teams came into the game knowing that a win would be enough to seal a spot in the knockout rounds. Belgium shouldered the majority of the pressure, desperate to avoid back-to-back eliminations from the World Cup group stage against a team that has yet to record a win at the competition.

Belgium had a penalty decision reversed via VAR in the 21st minute, however Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard grabbed the opener soon afterwards.
Trossard scored a second to extend Belgium’s lead early in the second-half, before Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Alexis Saelemaekers completed the rout.
Following the final whistle, a total of 161,750 tokens were permanently removed from the Belgium Fan Token™ ($BELG) supply, equal to 1% of its treasury reserves. Chiliz’ Burn to Glory campaign sees an increasing percentage of tokens burned from a Fan Token’s™ total supply for every game they win during the World Cup.
Final Four Fan Tokens™ at the World Cup
Following the elimination of Scotland ($SFA) and South Africa ($SAFA), just four international Fan Token™ teams remain in contention at the 2026 World Cup.
Spain ($SPAIN), Argentina ($ARG), Portugal ($POR), and Belgium ($BELG) have qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament, and are set to play in the coming week.
These remaining tokens will continue to be subject to Chiliz’ Burn to Glory campaign, with the burn percentage escalating with each round.
Given that the percentage is calculated from a token’s treasury reserves, the number of tokens burned across various tokens will be different, although the percentage itself remains equal.
Exactly 39,877 tokens have been burned from Argentina’s ($ARG) total supply so far, following three wins from three games – the only Fan Token™ team to have achieved this feat.

A total of 500,651 tokens have been burned from the Spain ($SPAIN) supply after two wins from three. Portugal’s ($POR) supply has been reduced by 69,656 tokens after securing one win.
Belgium are set to play Senegal in the round of 32, and could potentially face USA in the next round if both teams progress.
