English Premier League Fan Token Preview: New Season Gets Underway

Finally, the new Premier League season is upon us! This weekend the crème de la crème of English football go head to head – with some very tasty fixtures in the mix.

Let’s take a look at some of the upcoming fixtures, and examine how the clubs’ respective fan tokens are faring in the lead-up to the big kickoff.

Aston Villa ($AVL) vs Newcastle

Aston Villa are slight home favourites for this one, although Newcastle finished one place above them in the final league standings last season. Both teams are the neutrals’ favourites, and with very little between them, this match could go anywhere.

The Aston Villa Fan Token ($AVL) is up 10% in the past week, and is currently priced at $0.22. Keep an eye on $AVL in the lead up to this weekend’s match as any price movement may indicate how token holders anticipate the game playing out.

Manchester City ($CITY) vs Wolves

The Manchester City Fan Token ($CITY) has been on the rise for the past month, growing 30% in value in that time. Currently priced at $1.12, $CITY is now close to its quarterly high, but that’s still only half as much as its yearly high – so there’s still plenty of room for growth.

With Rodri back in training, there’s reason for optimism around Manchester City, however, an oversized squad could still be an issue of concern for City. Man City are clear favourites for the weekend’s match, and have won four out of the last five games against Wolves.

Tottenham Hotspur ($SPURS) vs Burnley

Spurs are big home favourites for their first match under new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank. Tottenham have spent over $160 million on new transfers this summer, and will be hoping to put the inconsistency of Ange Postecoglu’s reign behind them this term.

The $SPURS token has been up and down for much of the past month, but spiked to the tune of 13% in the past week, suggesting fans may be anticipating victory in the opening match of the season.

Manchester United vs Arsenal ($AFC)

Arsenal start off with a difficult away match against long-time rivals Man Utd this coming Sunday. Despite playing away from home, Arsenal are still the bookies’ favourites, and with a record-breaking summer transfer spend behind them, the Gunners will be expecting to come away with all three points.

The Arsenal Fan Token ($AFC) is up 13% in the past week, and 26% in the past month.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace ($CPFC)

The Crystal Palace Fan Token ($CPFC) spiked 21% in 48 hours on Aug. 4, but since then has levelled off. Palace have reason for optimism in Europe this season, with a favourable draw against lesser opposition before them

Domestically, however, Palace face a tough match against Chelsea this weekend, and are unfancied by bookies to snag a win away from home.

Leeds United ($LUFC) vs Everton ($EFC)

Leeds United are slight home favourites for this match, but with very little between these sides the final outcome is anyone’s guess.

The Everton Fan Token ($EFC) is up 13% in the past month, but has levelled out during the past week or so.
