Premier League Fan Token Preview: What Lies Ahead for Fan Tokens in Matchweek 2?

There were few surprises in matchweek one of the English Premier League, and while that may be a good thing for some, it could present an interesting challenge for others.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming matches this weekend and see how the Prem’s favourite Fan Tokens might fare.

Manchester City ($CITY) vs Tottenham Hotspur ($SPURS)

The standout match of matchweek two is set to be an intriguing affair after City showed that, yes, indeed, the ‘Old Man City’ are back, while Tottenham showed they have the firepower to overcome a typically defensively solid Burnley.

The Manchester City Fan Token ($CITY) declined 14% this week after a month in which it gained 30%, potentially suggesting wily traders are cashing in on a long-predicted Man City ascendancy.

A modest 4% decline to the value of the Tottenham Hotspur Fan Token ($SPURS) since last week’s 3-0 win may just hint at cynicism in the face of a match against City at the Etihad, but as one of the more volatile Fan Tokens, anything could happen this weekend – both on and off the pitch.

Brentford vs Aston Villa ($AVL)

A new breed of ‘middle-class’ teams have emerged in the Premier League in recent years, and that term is perhaps no better exemplified by Brentford and Aston Villa.

Villa are perhaps a cut above Brentford in terms of both finances and star power, however this will be a tough game for the villains who’ll look to improve upon last week’s draw at home to Newcastle.

After a strong month that included several 10-20% spikes, the Aston Villa Fan Token ($AVL) is down 5% this week, but could be ready for a bounce if Villa get a good result away to Brentford.

Leeds United ($LUFC) vs Arsenal ($AFC)

Leeds got a solid win against Everton on Monday night, but face stiffer opposition in the prospect of Arsenal this weekend, while retaining the home advantage.

That win boded well for the Leeds United Fan Token ($LUFC) which gained 17% in the last week, and 10% in the last 24 hours.

Arsenal managed to beat Man Utd away from home last week, and with Eberechi Eze in the door for $90 million to complement the signing of Gyokeres, Arsenal fans will be confident.

The Arsenal Fan Token ($AFC) has fluctuated between the $0.41 – $0.43 range this week, after a month in which it gained over 25%. Perhaps a stronger reaction can be expected depending on the outcome of this weekend’s fixture.

Crystal Palace ($CPFC) vs Nottingham Forest

Crystal Palace will feel robbed after a disallowed Eberechi Eze free-kick in their 0-0 draw away to Chelsea last week, but might feel confident of getting all three points at home against Forest.

If the fortunes of the Crystal Palace Fan Token ($CPFC) is anything to go by, Palace fans should be confident. The $CPFC token gained 25% this week, climbing from $0.03 up to $0.04. A good omen for Palace?

Everton ($EFC) vs Brighton

After being outdone by Leeds United on Monday, Everton will be looking to right the ship against Brighton on Sunday.

Slow starts to the season are nothing new for David Moyes, who is something of a specialist in the late season resurgence. He may not need to lean on those credentials if Everton can get the three points against Brighton, but their opponents are no pushovers.

The Everton FC Fan Token ($EFC) is still up 13% for the month, but has remained fairly stable during the past week. If the manager can get the four new signings he claims the team needs, Everton’s future might look even brighter.
