Italian National Team Fan Token Keeps Up Gattuso-Inspired Climb with 25% Monthly Gains
The Italian National Team FIGC Fan Token ($ITA) has maintained the surge triggered by the appointment of Gennaro Gattuso as Italy manager just one month ago, with the $ITA token gaining over 25% in that time.
Gattuso’s appointment as Italy head coach ahead of next year’s World Cup in North America appears to have bode well for the $ITA fan token, as the Azzurri look to correct the failings of Luciano Spalletti’s disappointing time in charge.
Since Gattuso’s appointment, the $ITA fan token has climbed from $0.270 to $0.338, marking 25.1% growth for the month. In the past week alone the value of $ITA climbed 12.7%.
Trade volume hit a monthly high of $507,000 earlier this week, having climbed from a monthly low of $86,000.
Italy Look to Save 2026 World Cup Hopes
The Italian national team displayed what most regarded to be a sub-par performance at Euro 2024, where the team dropped out in the round of sixteen after a 2-0 loss to underdogs Switzerland.
Then Italy coach Luciano Spalletti remained in charge following the team’s exit from the tournament, despite calls in the Italian media for him to be sacked.
Spalletti’s official reign continued up until the first qualifying match of the 2026 World Cup tournament, where Italy lost 3-0 to lower opposition in Norway.
After the Norway game Spalletti held a press-conference to announce he’d been sacked from his role, but would stay on for the next game against Moldova, which Italy won 2-0.
Gattuso Names “Untouchables” on Italy Team Sheet
Italy have yet to play a game since Gattuso’s appointment, but hopes are high around the Italy camp that the player who won the 2006 World Cup for Italy – as well as two UEFA Champions League trophies for AC Milan – can help right the ship.
According to the Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Gattuso sees Inter Milan trio Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Davide Frattesi as “untouchable” for the national team first-eleven.
According to the same report, Gattuso also has an eye for Inter Milan youngster Francesco Pio Esposito, who was part of Italy’s UEFA Euro 2023 under-19s winning squad, and has since scored seven goals in eleven games for the under-21’s squad.
