Why the Fenerbahçe Fan Token ($FB) is Rising Fast Before Huge League Game

The value of the Fenerbahçe Fan Token has risen 38.7% in the last two days, and could be set for further gains with a win over Kasımpaşa tonight (Feb. 23), a result that would fire Fenerbahçe to joint-top of the Turkish Süper Lig.
The only unbeaten team in the Turkish top flight, Fenerbahçe are heavy favourites to dispatch 16th-placed Kasımpaşa and take full advantage of Galatasaray’s unexpected 2-0 defeat to Konyaspor on Saturday (Feb. 21).
How $FB Flew and $GAL Fell as Title Race Heats Up
Galatasaray’s second defeat of the season caused the price of the Galatasaray Fan Token ($GAL) to fall from $1.63 to $1.46 in just two hours (-10.4%), per socios.com price data. Although the token’s price subsequently dropped as low as $1.41, it has since recovered to $1.45.
Despite the sharp fall, the $GAL token has had a fantastic February and is still up 21.8% since the start of the month.
As for the Fenerbahçe Fan Token ($FB), its performance has been even stronger, its value having increased by 56.9% since Feb. 1.
Currently second in the Süper Lig with 15 wins against 7 draws and no defeats, Fenerbahçe are also contesting the Europa League playoff, although they have a mountain to climb having lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest on Thursday night (Feb. 19).
After Galatasaray’s defeat on Saturday, $FB trade volumes exploded, from $2.7m on matchday morning to $10.6m that night (+292.5%). Volumes went as high as $12.6m on Sunday before cooling off, although the value of the token is up 38.7% in the last two days.
If Fenerbahçe take care of business at home to Kasımpaşa tonight, they will draw level with Galatasaray on 55 points, although they will likely still be behind the defending champions due to the latter’s superior goal difference.
Is Fenerbahçe a Good Bet for Turkish Title?
After tonight’s game, there will be 13 games left of the league campaign, with Galatasaray set to host Fenerbahçe on Apr. 26. In the Intercontinental Derby’s reverse fixture on Dec. 1, an injury-time equaliser from loanee Jhon Durán secured a vital point for Fenerbahçe.
Galatasaray have won the last three Turkish Süper Ligs, with Fenerbahçe finishing second. In fact, Fenerbahçe have finished runners-up in six of the last ten seasons, and have not won the title since 2014.
So, can Fenerbahçe deliver their first title in 12 years come May? It’s certainly possible, particularly as Galatasaray may make the last-16 of the UCL (leading 5-2 vs Juve ahead of 2nd leg) and will thus have a busier schedule than Fenerbahçe, who will probably drop out of Europe later this week.
A glance at the league schedule shows Galatasaray have two tough away ties coming up: against fourth-placed Beşiktaş on Mar. 7 and third-placed Trabzonspor on Apr. 5. Fenerbahçe, meanwhile, are at home to Beşiktaş on Apr. 5.
Fenerbahçe’s squad includes Spanish forward Marco Asensio, who won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid, and midfielder N’Golo Kanté, a member of France’s 2018 World Cup winning team.
