Why Are National Team Fan Tokens Climbing Right Now?

It was a huge weekend in club football, but the best-performing Fan Tokens the following Monday belonged to national teams.
With more than two weeks to go until the Nations League returns, the movement of these assets may have caught some by surprise. So, which tokens are climbing and why?
Which National Fan Tokens Are On the Move?
The tokens that have climbed the most in the past 24 hours belong to Belgium (+17%), Scotland (+3.8%) and South Africa (+2%).
Seemingly out of nowhere, the Belgium Fan Token® ($BELG) began to climb earlier today, jumping from $0.049 to $0.085 (+73.4%). Within a matter of hours, though, the token’s value stabilized in the $0.060 region.
As for trade volumes, they climbed from a modest $200k early on Oct. 26 to $685k by the afternoon (+242.5%).

Belgium’s last appearance came on Oct. 5, when they were beaten 4-1 by France in the Nations League. The Red Devils return to action on Nov. 12 against Turkey, before hosting Italy three days later.
So, why did $BELG start rocketing on an otherwise sleepy Monday morning following a packed domestic fixture schedule? You’d have to ask traders, because the catalyst is far from obvious.
As we noted in a previous blog, What Causes Some Fan Tokens to Pump on “No News” and What It Really Means, the digital assets of sports organizations can often rocket in the absence of meaningful drivers. The rise of $BELG isn’t the first and it won’t be the last.
The Scotland Fan Token® ($SFA) rose in tandem with $BELG, from a value of $0.045 at midnight to $0.055 (+22.2%) by 8.30am CEST. Trade volumes also doubled during this eight-hour period.
Like Belgium, Scotland lost their last game, an ignominious 2-1 home defeat to Slovenia in the Nations League (Oct. 6). The Scots return at home to North Macedonia on Nov. 13 before facing Switzerland away three days later.

As for the South Africa Fan Token® ($SAFA), it jumped from $0.044 to $0.050 (+13.6%) earlier today before losing most of those gains in short order. Trade volumes climbed 49.5% during the rise.
South Africa have won all three games since their elimination from the World Cup in June, including two in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Their campaign resumes on Nov. 13 at home to Kenya, before the reverse fixture takes place four days later.
The recent performance of these Fan Tokens is a timely reminder of the fast-paced nature of SportFi, with the market often moving independently of on-pitch drivers.
