What Caused AS Roma Fan Token™ ($ASR) Trade Volumes to Explode 561%?

Over the last 24 hours, trading activity for the AS Roma Fan Token™ ($ASR) has exploded, rising from $1.07M to $7.08M, an increase of 561%.
In fact, $ASR currently has the highest 24hr volume of all Fan Tokens™, eclipsing recently-crowned French champions Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG).
The logical question to ask is: Why?
The Reason AS Roma is Rocketing
There are a few possible reasons why trade activity around the AS Roma Fan Token™ ($ASR) has spiked. Four days ago, the Giallorossi beat Lazio 2-0 in the Rome derby to fire themselves into the top four, meaning they just need to beat Verona away on Sunday (May 24) to secure Champions League football for the first time in seven years.
The Rome derby win caused the value of $ASR to rise 2.5% intraday, but trade volumes only began to accelerate three days after the match. So, what else is at play here?

In the last 24 hours, news broke that AS Roma’s new stadium project had entered a decisive administrative phase, with the club submitting the necessary documents that could pave the way for construction of the Pietralata stadium before UEFA Euro 2032 (which will be co-hosted by Italy and Turkey).
Rome mayor Roberto Gualtieri has previously referred to the 60,605-seat Pietralata stadium as one of the city’s priority infrastructure developments.
AS Roma have stated that their new stadium will generate improved commercial revenues, enhance fan experience, and allow the Giallorossi to gain independence from the city-owned Stadio Olimpico.
It is not just $ASR trade volumes that have risen. Between lunchtime on May 20 and early the next morning, its spot price jumped from $1.11 to $1.19 (+7.2%). However, the value of the token has since fallen to $1.13, meaning its price remains much the same as it was yesterday.
Will $ASR Gain Value By Clinching Top Four?
The value of $ASR has mostly trended downward over the past ten days, having stood at $1.34 on May 11, but a win over Hellas Verona on Sunday night could provoke a reversal of fortunes.
Where there is uncertainty around UCL qualification – and either Como (5th) or Juventus (6th) could overtake Roma if they beat Cremonese and Torino respectively – there is market volatility. And it is volatility that could conceivably precipitate a rise (or fall) for $ASR depending on the result of Sunday’s match.
