$VERDAO Gains 15% as Five Brazilian Fan Tokens Clubs Face Knockout Week

Palmeiras leads the Brazilian assets, while $MENGO and $VASCO climb higher as five Fan Token® clubs contest continental quarter-final deciders.
The Palmeiras Fan Token® ($VERDAO) has gained 14.9% over seven days leading up to Sept. 14, as five Brazilian Fan Token clubs prepare for a decisive week in South America’s continental competitions.
The token’s 14.9% weekly increase compares with a 2.5% fall across the wider cryptocurrency market over the same period. It has also outperformed CoinGecko’s sports-token category, which declined by approximately 0.2%.
Attention now turns to the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, where Flamengo ($MENGO), Palmeiras ($VERDAO), Fluminense ($FLU), Vasco ($VASCO) and São Paulo ($SPFC) will all contest decisive quarter-final second legs.
Palmeiras’ and Flamengo’s Back-and-Forth
Palmeiras beat São Paulo 2-0 on Saturday, briefly climbing to the top of Série A before Flamengo responded one day later.
Flamengo returned to the top of Brazil’s Série A on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Corinthians, completing a dramatic weekend at the top of Série A.
The Flamengo Fan Token® ($MENGO) was trading at approximately $0.0196 following a 4.3% seven-day increase. The token is now almost 23% above its July-low as Flamengo enters the business end of the footballing season, and the club attempts to defend its 2025 league-title.
Like $VERDAO, $MENGO has outperformed both the wider crypto market and comparable sports tokens over the past week.
While this does not clearly establish that Flamengo’s victories drove the price movement, it does show that the token has maintained positive momentum during an important period for the club.
Which Brazilian Fan Tokens Are Building Momentum?
Vasco da Gama’s weekend victory over Gremio was accompanied by a modest recovery for the Vasco da Gama Fan Token® ($VASCO), which gained approximately 4% over 24 hours. The move comes before a home quarter-final against Santa Fe, where any Vasco victory will secure a place in the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
As for São Paulo, they must produce a comeback if they hope to progress in the Sudamericana. They lost the first leg 1-0 against Boca Juniors at La Bombonera and will also be without suspended captain Jonathan Calleri.
Their 2-0 weekend defeat against Palmeiras means momentum isn’t necessarily on São Paulo’s side, nor is it on the side of the São Paulo Fan Token® ($SPFC), which declined by 2.25% in the past week.
Palmeiras travel to Ecuador with a lead after Agustín Giay scored the only goal of their first meeting with LDU in the Libertadores. Abel Ferreira’s side need only a draw in Quito, although the return match will be played at an altitude of approximately 2,800 metres.
The two ties feed into the same side of the Sudamericana draw. If Vasco and São Paulo both progress, they will meet in an all-Brazilian semi-final.
Flamengo are in the strongest position after winning 2-0 in Quito in the Copa Libertadores quarter-final first-leg. Their domestic victory means Leonardo Jardim’s side enter Thursday’s return match with both a two-goal advantage and renewed control of the Brazilian title race.
Fluminense hold the same two-goal cushion as Flamengo in the Libertadores. Nonato and Hulk scored in a 2-0 first-leg victory over Platense, allowing the Rio club to potentially lose by one goal in Argentina and still progress. Keep an eye on the Fluminense Fan Token® ($FLU) when the match kicks off on Sept. 15.
