Vasco da Gama & Palmeiras Climb as Spotlight Shines on Brazilian Fan Tokens

Among Brazilian Fan Tokens, Vasco da Gama ($VASCO) and Palmeiras ($VERDAO) have been two of the best performers over the last 24 hours, perhaps unsurprising given what’s happening on and off the pitch.

Let’s take a look at the price action and what could be driving it.

Vasco de Gama Fan Token ($VASCO) Jumps as Copa do Brasil Semi Looms

Tonight, Rio-based Vasco da Gama are in action in the semifinal of the Copa do Brasil, the Brazilian equivalent of the English FA Cup or Spanish Copa del Rey, where they’ll face Fluminense.

The Copa do Brasil was Vasco’s last significant trophy, although it’s been 14 long years since that victory. Being the home ground of both teams, the iconic Maracanã is the venue for both legs of the semifinal, with the second scheduled for Sunday.

Although Vasco will start as heavy underdogs, having lost seven of their last eight games, the Vasco da Gama Fan Token ($VASCO) has trended up over the last week, its value rising from $0.021 to $0.024, an increase of 14.2%.

While the Fluminense camp go into the semi with confidence, having gone unbeaten in seven games (five wins, two draws), the Fluminense Fan Token ($FLU) is actually down 6% in the last 24 hours. Zooming out to survey the seven-day action, though, it’s still up 10.3%.

A decisive win for either side in tonight’s match will put the victor in the driving seat ahead of Sunday’s second leg. Could such momentum be reflected in the Fan Token market?

Palmeiras Fan Token Up as Manager Extends Stay

Despite losing both the Copa Libertadores final and Brasileiro to Flamengo, the mood music at Palmeiras has been lifted after popular coach Abel Ferreira renewed his contract until the end of 2027.

The Portuguese has racked up 395 consecutive games at the helm, the most in the club’s history, with ten titles delivered in that period – an average of one trophy every 40 matches.

In the wake of the Ferreira news, the Palmeiras Fan Token ($VERDAO) is up 6% over the last 24 hours and 21.7% over the last seven days. Palmeiras finished up their domestic campaign with a 3-1 away win over Ceará, finishing three points adrift of league winners Flamengo ($MENGO).

Another Brazilian Fan Token worth keeping tabs on is $SANTOS. The Santos FC Fan Token is up 2.3% over the last 24 hours and 6.6% since December 7, when they avoided relegation by beating Cruzeiro 3-0. Neymar Jr. won acclaim for his performance, and having only featured in 20 of Santos’ 38 league games this season, the 33-year-old Brazilian is set to go under the knife for knee surgery in the off-season.
