Could Top-of-the-Table Games in Italy, Portugal Affect Fan Token® Sentiment This Weekend?

This weekend, two top-of-the-table clashes will take place in Italy and Portugal. First up, on Saturday, Roma host defending Serie A champions Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico. A day later, Benfica travel to Porto in a battle of Primeira Liga heavyweights.
With all four clubs having an official digital asset, these showdowns are likely to attract significant interest from SportFi speculators before kickoff, during play, and after the full-time whistle.
So who will win, both on the pitch and in the markets? Let’s take a closer look.
Will Roma Repel Champions Inter in the Capital?
Prediction markets suggest this showdown will be closely fought, with the market giving Inter a 38% chance of victory and Roma a 36% chance.
The hosts have been on a fine run of late, winning four and drawing two since suffering a pre-season defeat to Brighton on August 8. Entering the Inter game, they are top of the table on goal difference and have scored 12 while conceding just one.

Inter have also won all four Serie A games, scoring 13 but conceding 6. The Nerazzurri have kept just one clean sheet in their last five, shipping three goals at home to Udinese in their most recent outing (Sept. 14).
As boxing emcee Michael Buffer is known to say, “somebody’s 0 must go.” But which team’s unbeaten Serie A record will fall? Or might a draw preserve both teams’ good form and open the door for Lazio and Como to go joint-top by beating Venezia and Frosinone?
With the showdown two days away, the AS Roma Fan Token® ($ASR) is priced at $0.82, up 3.7% since yesterday (Sept. 16) while volumes stand at $3.5m.
The Inter Milan Fan Token® ($INTER) is priced at $0.20, up 1.3% over the last 24 hours though volumes are lower at $109k.
Expect market activity to intensify as the kickoff draws closer.

Can Benfica Pull Off an Epic Double?
Benfica are halfway to an epic double, having impressively beaten AC Milan 2-0 in their opening Europa League match at the San Siro last night (Sept. 16).
As we noted in our match preview, the Lisbon side are unbeaten in six league games and will relish the chance to knock Porto off the league summit this Sunday. While Porto have won six out of six, Benfica have won five and drawn one.
The latest prediction market data suggests both teams have a 37% chance of victory, with a draw rated at 29%. Porto’s last defeat at home came earlier this month, when they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City ($CITY) in the Champions League.
Recording back-to-back away wins over AC Milan and Porto would mark quite a week for Marco Silva’s Benfica, but what would it do for the Benfica Fan Token® ($BENFICA)?

Priced at $0.0861 on the morning of the Milan game, $BENFICA rose to $0.0879 the next morning (+2%), although it has since fallen from that level and is up just 0.4% over the last 24 hours. In other words, the upset victory in Milan, impressive as it was, didn’t meaningfully propel the club’s Fan Token®.
With three days until the Porto clash, though, there’s plenty of time for interest in $BENFICA to rise. The same can be said for Porto’s digital asset ($PORTO), which is currently priced at $0.45, up 2.2% over the last seven days.
By the time the weekend’s over, we could have new league leaders in Italy and Portugal. Who’ll lay down a marker, and which tokens could take off?
