Spain Triggers Third Fan Token™ Burn After Beating Austria in R032

Spain ended years of frustration at the FIFA World Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over Austria in the round-of-32, booking a place in the last 16 for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2010.
Victory carried added importance beyond the pitch, as it activated another milestone for the Spain Fan Token™ ($SPAIN) ecosystem.
Progress in the tournament confirmed the project’s third scheduled token burn, reducing supply once again. While trading activity has softened in recent days, another World Cup win could trigger an even larger burn, giving token-holders another reason to follow Spain’s knockout journey.
Third Spain Fan Token™ Burn Confirmed
La Roja’s qualification for the round-of-16 officially triggered the third burn of their Fan Token™ ($SPAIN).
A total of 487,173 $SPAIN tokens were destroyed from treasury reserves following the Austria victory, per Chiliz’ Burn to Glory campaign which ties tournament progress to tokenomics.
Attention now turns to Spain’s last 16 clash against Portugal, who beat Croatia 2-1 to trigger their own Fan Token™ burn. Another victory would activate a further 2.5% burn, reducing the available supply once again as the national team moves deeper into the competition.
$SPAIN Value Jumps After Win
Priced at $0.629 hours before the Austria game, the value of Spain’s Fan Token™ had risen to $0.670 by the following morning, a rise of 6.5%. 24hr trade volumes have also moved between $250k and $350k.

Spain’s continued progress will keep their Fan Token™ burn schedule active, with the burn rate rising as high as 10% for a win in the final.
Spain Ends 16-Year Knockout Wait
Spain controlled much of the contest in Los Angeles and finally broke through after 36 minutes. Marc Cucurella delivered a low cross that Mikel Oyarzabal converted from close range to open the scoring.
Pressure continued after the break, and Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage in the 66th minute by heading home Alex Baena’s cross after a patient attacking move.
Oyarzabal sealed the victory with his second goal in the closing stages to help Spain cruise to the RO16. Cucurella picked out the striker with a precise through ball, allowing him to score his fourth goal of the tournament.
Despite making their first World Cup knockout appearance since 1954, Austria rarely posed a threat; Sasa Kalajdzic came closest but headed over with his first touch.
Spain have kept four consecutive clean sheets so far, joining Mexico as the only teams yet to concede at the 2026 World Cup.
