Fan Token Premier League Preview: London Derby and the Battle for Top Four

Matchweek ten of the English Premier League pits several of the teams challenging for the top four spots against each other, while giving the league leaders a chance to put more space between them and the rest of the pack.

With a fiery London derby thrown in for good measure, this weekend promises to be full of action in the English Premier League.

Burnley vs Arsenal ($AFC)

With Arsenal already four points clear at the top of the league, one would expect this to be a prime chance for the Gunners to solidify their lead – or extend it further depending on the outcome of other matches.

Despite falling from $0.40 to $0.38 in the past 24 hours, the gains the Arsenal Fan Token ($AFC) made in the last three weeks means it’s still up 22% since Oct. 10, and has shown more resilience than other Fan Tokens amid a broader market dip.

Tottenham Hotspur ($SPURS) vs Chelsea

It’s a London derby more ferocious than most. Tottenham sit in 3rd place while Chelsea sit in 9th – yet only three points separate the two teams, such is the strength of competition in the top half of the table.

Chelsea’s loss to Sunderland last week should give Tottenham some extra confidence in this home fixture, although derbies are predictably unpredictable.

The Tottenham Hotspur Fan Token ($SPURS) rallied from $0.28 to $0.32 following last week’s win over Everton, but subsequently dipped back to the $0.27 range.

Manchester City ($CITY) vs Bournemouth

Typically, seeing these two names next to each other would lead one to expect a clear City win. However, this Bournemouth team are currently in 2nd place after a fantastic start to the season, and given City’s loss to Aston Villa last week, Bournemouth will believe they have a chance.

If City win, and other results go their way, they could leap from 5th to 2nd. If Bournemouth win, it would send City further back down the pecking order for finishing within the top four.

The Manchester City Fan Token ($CITY) fell from $0.75 to $0.65 in the past week, but began to rebound at time of writing, climbing back up to $0.678. The outcome of this match could sway $CITY to one extreme or the other.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa ($AVL)

After winning their first five games and taking all the plaudits, Liverpool then went on to lose their next four, and fell from 1st to 7th.

Conversely, Aston Villa didn’t win in their first five games, but have since won the last four in a row and are unbeaten in five. If this double pendulum continues to swing, Villa have a great chance to pile on Liverpool’s misery and potentially climb into 2nd place.

The Aston Villa Fan Token ($AVL) rose from $0.115 to $0.125 in the past week, before falling back down to where it started. A win over Liverpool might be the catalyst the Fan Token needs to keep its head above the waves as the broader market wobbles.

Crystal Palace ($CPFC) vs Brentford

Another two London-based teams go head-to-head in this fixture between 10th vs 11th, but there’s no personal animosity between Palace and Brentford. That doesn’t mean the game will lack bite – both teams are on 13 points, and a win for either could propel them into the top five depending on other results.

After a blistering summer surge for the Crystal Palace Fan Token ($CPFC) during which time it climbed from $0.28 to $0.74, it has since fallen back to the $0.43 mark. The token was priced as high as $0.49 this time last week, and has lost 5% in the past 24 hours.

Brighton vs Leeds United ($LUFC)

Just one point separates these two teams at the bottom end of the table, and there’s very little between them on paper. Brighton will be slight favourites given the home advantage, but Leeds have every chance to grab the three points.

The Leeds United Fan Token ($LUFC) fell from $0.034 to $0.029 in the past week, but in the past 24 hours bounced back up to $0.030. The token is still up nearly 50% since August, when it was priced just below $0.021.

Sunderland vs Everton ($EFC)

Sunderland have been the surprise package so far this season and currently occupy 4th spot. Everton started well but have since lost three out of their last five, although admittedly against strong opposition. A win could send Everton back into the top ten, and this result could go any which way.

The Everton Fan Token ($EFC) is down 4.6% for the past 24 hours at time of writing.
