Palmeiras Fan Token® Pops 20% as Penalty Win Punches Libertadores Final Ticket

Palmeiras are through to the 2026 Copa Libertadores final, after a thrilling penalty shootout win over fellow Brazilian side Fluminense at Nubank Parque.
Game-day (Oct. 21) coincided with a steep rise in the value of the winner’s Fan Token® ($VERDAO), which climbed from $0.0130 to $0.0156 (+20%).
Although gains were quickly erased following an intraday drop of 20.9%, the token’s value spiked again on Oct. 22 to recover the losses.
$VERDAO Retains Gains as Final Beckons
With the dust settled on the win, the Palmeiras Fan Token® ($VERDAO) has held on to weekly gains of 12.2%.
Palmeiras had carried an advantage into the match having won 2-1 in the first leg, but a late strike from midfielder Hércules capped a brilliant team move and cancelled that out before penalties dawned.

The shootout was high-quality, with Palmeiras converting five out of five and goalkeeper Carlos Miguel doing his part to save Nonato’s shot and confirm a 5-3 win.
Palmeiras have qualified for the Copa Libertadores final for the second year running and will face Argentina’s Estudiantes, who also triumphed via penalty shootout over holders Flamengo ($MENGO).
Despite their defeat on Thursday night, the value of $MENGO is up 8% over the last seven days. Indeed, the finalists’ Fan Tokens have the best weekly gains of all football assets.
Can Palmeiras Win the 2026 Copa Libertadores?
Given their recent form, Palmeiras will believe they can go a step further and win the 2026 Copa Libertadores next month, an achievement that would make them the first ever Brazilian four-time champions.
Three of the last four Copa Libertadores titles were won by beaten semifinalists Flamengo and Fluminense, with Palmeiras’ last triumph coming in 2021 – their second consecutive title.
Four-time winners Estudiantes have not lifted the trophy since 2009, which was also their last appearance in the final.

The 2026 Copa Libertadores final will take place on Nov. 28 at the iconic Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay, a venue built to host the first ever World Cup in 1930.
The location is fitting given the final will be a repeat of Estudiantes’ first Copa Libertadores triumph in 1968, when they defeated Palmeiras 2-0, also at the Estadio Centenario.
Last year’s final between Flamengo and Palmeiras saw trading activity for each team’s token spike, and SportFi traders are likely to be mobilized into action as the showpiece draws near.
