How Could Julián Alvarez Saga Affect the Atlético Madrid Fan Token ($ATM)?

Will he or won’t he? Leave, that is. We’re talking about Atlético Madrid’s wantaway striker Julián Alvarez, who remains locked in an increasingly bitter transfer tug of war with his paymasters. And the answer to the question may have a major impact on the club’s official Fan Token®, for better or worse.
Let’s dive into this unfolding saga and consider a few possible scenarios and how they might affect sentiment around $ATM.
Could Alvarez Exit Weaken $ATM?
The first scenario is that Alvarez gets his wish and bids farewell to Atlético, his likely destination either Arsenal or Barcelona. Would such an eventuality weaken the Atlético Madrid Fan Token® ($ATM)?
The answer is not so clear. While the 26-year-old has scored 49 goals in 107 appearances, he has failed to inspire Atlético to win any trophies in his two years at the club. Moreover, if Alvarez leaves for a fee of 150m euros or more, Atlético would have the finances to secure an elite replacement.
It might all depend on which club Alvarez joins. If he leaves Madrid for London and Arsenal, $ATM sentiment could be less affected than if he joins Atlético’s La Liga rivals Barcelona.
Will $ATM Climb if Alvarez Stays?
Alvarez’ desire to leave Atlético is no secret, but club president Enrique Cerezo doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo.
Just last week, Cerezo reiterated his desire to retain the World Cup winner, saying: “He’s our player and an important part of our team. We like that he’s with us and think he will have a magnificent season.”
So, how might $ATM respond if Alvarez stays? Well, given the way the token has trended since August 13, since when it’s lost 31.2% of its value, we might imagine the recovery will be strong.

Retaining Alvarez’s services would be a major statement of intent from Atlético, who finished runners up in the Copa del Rey last season and narrowly lost to Arsenal in the UCL semi. If the striker stays and continues his good form, they could conceivably end their long wait for silverware.
Of course, football history tells us that another scenario is possible: Alvarez could stay but ‘down tools’, as it were, frustrated by the club’s refusal to let him leave. Nevertheless, the market could do its thing and drive $ATM higher before the striker’s next appearance.
A Saga Nearing Its End
With deadline day (Sept. 1) fast approaching, the Alvarez saga will soon come to an end.
For $ATM traders, the outcome could be a major catalyst of heightened excitement in the markets as Fan Token® activity clicks into high gear.
Naturally, we’ll keep you informed about $ATM’s direction of travel whether Atlético’s star striker stays or goes.
