Barcelona ($BAR) in the Champions League
In the week leading up to the Champions League quarter-final, the valuation of the Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) increased by 7.7%, climbing from $0.51 to $0.55.
A large influx of trade volume flowed into $BAR markets on April 5, as the daily average volume rose from $1.1 million to $7.7 million, suggesting the upcoming match is driving serious interest in $BAR.
Interestingly, the valuation of the $BAR token has increased by 27% since early February, holding onto gains even as other tokens sunk.
This can be attributed to Barcelona’s ongoing good performances in both the domestic league and the Champions League.
The club currently sit seven points clear at the top of La Liga. With just eight games left to play, the league title would appear to be wrapped up already.
Can Atletico Madrid ($ATM) Spring a Surprise?
Atletico have history with Barcelona this season. When both clubs met in the Copa del Rey in February, it prompted immediate fireworks.
Barca beat Atletico 3-0 in the second leg of the cup tie, but that wasn’t enough to overturn Atletico’s 4-0 win from the first leg.
This week, the valuation of the Atletico Madrid Fan Token ($ATM) decreased by 4%, continuing a slide that’s been active for most of the month.
The decrease in the valuation of $ATM this month can partially be attributed to the club’s performance in La Liga, where Atletico lost their last two games.

The team’s title chances are long gone, but they will likely capture a top-four finish, guaranteeing Champions League football for next season.
Ultimately, if Atletico manage to spring a surprise on Barcelona in the Champions League, we should expect to see the $ATM token awaken from its month-long slumber.
