How Arsenal v City Played Out On-Chain: Fan Tokens React to Title Action

Arsenal extended their lead over Manchester City at the weekend, and as has happened all season, the SportFi market reacted to the on-field action.
Although City still have a game to play, Arsenal’s nine-point advantage makes them heavy favourites to take the title with just a handful of fixtures remaining.
How Fan Token Market Responded to Latest Title Twist
Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton, coupled with Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with West Ham, was reflected in the market as the value of the Arsenal Fan Token ($AFC) rocketed 13.6% between March 14 and 16, while $CITY fell 1.7% over the same period, per Socios.com.

Interestingly, the Manchester City Fan Token ($CITY) rose 6.1% between March 13 and 14, on the eve of the West Ham match, after trending sideways in the preceding days. It has since fallen 4.9%.
Trade volumes have been particularly high for both tokens in recent days, with $CITY volume hitting $8.2m on March 15 and $AFC volume hitting $9.6m the same day.
The Arsenal v City title battle has played out on-chain all season, with twists and turns reflected in sharp increases in both volume and value. In the previous matchday, City’s surprise 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest put Arsenal seven points clear after their 1-0 win over Brighton, resulting in $AFC rising by 21.8%.
Volatility Ahead for $AFC and $CITY?
With neither team scheduled to play a Premier League match until April, Arsenal will enjoy their nine-point cushion for the rest of the month as attention turns first to the Champions League and then the Carabao Cup, where the teams will clash in the final on March 22.
Although the title race is on pause for the best part of a month, there could be volatility ahead for both assets. Tomorrow night (March 17), both teams will attempt to negotiate their passage to the UCL quarterfinals on home turf.
While City face a daunting second leg against Real Madrid, having lost 3-0 in the Spanish capital last week, Arsenal are expected to dispatch Bayer Leverkusen having drawn 1-1 in Germany.
Currently alive in four competitions (Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup), City and Arsenal face a huge week and the possibility of elimination in one or two of those. Whatever happens, expect the Fan Token market to reflect sporting sentiment as it has throughout the course of the season so far.
