Can Barcelona Reverse Fortunes in UCL Quarters to Boost $BAR?

We are hours away from the all-Spanish UCL quarterfinal between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona, with Diego Simeone’s men holding a commanding 2-0 lead after last week’s first leg.
Given Atlético have home advantage, many expect them to qualify for the semifinals at Barça’s expense. However, if Barcelona were to turn the tables on their rivals, the effect on the Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) could be striking.
So, how likely is a comeback?
Can Barcelona Upset Atlético to Keep UCL Dream Alive?
Barcelona certainly have the ability to beat Atlético Madrid in the Spanish capital: after all, they did just that earlier this month, coming from behind to win 2-1 in La Liga. That result on April 4 drove the value of the Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) from $0.523 to $0.565 intraday (+8%) per Socios.com.
Tonight’s assignment looks more difficult, not least due to the manner in which Atlético conquered Barcelona at the Nou Camp last week. It’s also worth noting that in the aforementioned La Liga clash, Atlético played the second half with ten men after Nico Gonzalez’ red card.

Barcelona and Atlético have met five times this season. Barcelona won both league encounters (3-1, 2-1) and the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal (3-0), although Atlético’s 4-0 victory in the first leg was enough to knock Barça out. Interestingly, Barcelona have scored eight and conceded eight across the five games.
Last week, strikes from Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth silenced the Nou Camp and put Atlético in pole position to make the UCL semifinals for the first time since 2017, when they lost 4-2 on aggregate to Real Madrid.
Yesterday, we discussed the recent performance of the Atlético Madrid Fan Token ($ATM) which hit a weekly peak trade volume of $9.7M and has gained 17.2% over the last seven days. In contrast, the value of $BAR has dropped 4.7% since April 11, when they beat Espanyol 4-1 at home to go nine points clear at the summit of La Liga.

Despite this, Polymarket makes them favourites to win tonight’s match, rating their chances of a win at 55% and Atlético’s at 26%.
The Weight of History
Of course, the Catalans need to do more than win: they need to overturn a 2-0 deficit at the Metropolitano. Amazingly, Atlético have never lost a Champions League knockout game at home in Spain under Simeone. Indeed, the last time they lost a UCL knockout tie on home turf was 1997.
The stage is set. Can Atlético hold out for a famous Champions League win or will Barcelona write another remontada into history?
