Belgium Fan TokenⓇ Soars 130% as van Bommel Era Begins

Belgium may have come up short at the World Cup but their Fan TokenⓇ went on a tear at the weekend, following Friday’s appointment of former Netherlands captain Mark van Bommel as new head coach.
Van Bommel is a familiar face on the Belgian football scene, having led Royal Antwerp to the Belgian league title, Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup during an impressive two-year reign. And it appears his appointment is brightening the mood around $BELG.
How $BELG Exploded On Sunday Morning
Lazy Sunday mornings are characterized by coffees and bagels, but the Fan Token market never sleeps, and evidence of this was abundant this past weekend.
Priced at $.149 as the sun rose on July 26, the Belgium Fan TokenⓇ ($BELG) had rocketed to $0.344 by 12:00 CEST, a jump of 130%. Perhaps more incredibly, this astonishing rise took place over a four-hour period.

Although $BELG has since retraced to $0.212, having lost 38.2% over the past 24 hours, it is still in the green over the last seven days, its price having climbed 36.2% since Monday, July 20.
In fact, $BELG is the second biggest climber in the Fan Token ecosystem over the last week, just behind the Sevilla Fan Token ($SEVILLA) which has gained 51.5%.
The sudden rise of $BELG was driven by significantly increased trade volumes which hit $2.6M today, up from less than $1M this time yesterday.
What’s Next for Belgium?
Belgium return to action on September 25 when they face Italy in the UEFA Nations League, before meeting France – who will also have a new manager following the departure of Didier Deschamps – three days later.
If van Bommel can orchestrate a win in the latter game, it could be a good omen: the Red Devils have not recorded a competitive win over France since a 2-0 victory during qualifying for the 1982 World Cup.
Rudi Garcia, who had managed Belgium since January 2025, departed from his post after Belgium’s World Cup exit to eventual winners Spain and van Bommel’s contract will run through Euro 2028.
Belgium was one of six World Cup participants whose Fan Token was subject to win-triggered burn executions throughout the tournament. Victories over New Zealand, Senegal, and the United States caused 869,890 $BELG tokens to be burned from treasury holdings, equal to 4.3% of treasury reserves.
