Aston Villa Fan Token ($AVL) Climbs 11.2% in One Week Ahead of Bologna Showdown

Despite inconsistent form on the pitch, Aston Villa are still in a great position – and the recent performance of the club’s official Fan Token $AVL proves it.
Over the last seven days, the value of the token has risen from $0.1250 to $0.1391 per Socios.com, a jump of 11.2%. Optimism, then, appears to be surging ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League quarterfinal against Bologna ($BFC).
Interestingly, trade volumes for the Aston Villa Fan Token ($AVL) have declined in recent days, from $746,803 on April 4 to $47,226 at the time of writing, four days on. However, with the Bologna tie more than 24 hours away, that number is likely to increase as kickoff draws closer.
During Villa’s last European match, a 2-0 victory over Lille on March 19, trade volumes reached $248,000.
So, why is $AVL on the move, and what does April have in store for Unai Emery’s men?
Why is $AVL Climbing?
Aston Villa have not played a match since beating West Ham United 2-0 on March 22, but since March 31, the spot price of $AVL has increased by 15.9%.
The reason for this may be that their closest rival for the UCL-clinching fourth place in the Premier League, Liverpool, suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City ($CITY) in the FA Cup on April 4.
The recent strong performance of $AVL could reflect traders’ belief that Liverpool’s low confidence will spill over into the league, where they lie five points behind Villa in fifth. Indeed, Villa look likelier to climb into third – they are just a point behind Manchester United – than surrender fourth.
Can Villa Hold On To Top Four?
A return to the top table of European football, coupled with a deep run in the Europa League, could drive the price of $AVL higher. Taking care of business on the pitch, though, is a must.
April is a critical month for the Birmingham club, with European progression hinging on the two-legged tie with Bologna and several vital league games to negotiate. After travelling to northern Italy for tomorrow’s match (April 9), the Bologna tie will be settled at Villa Park next Thursday (April 16).
Domestically, Villa’s upcoming games include away matches with Nottingham Forest (April 12) and Fulham (April 25) and a home encounter with Sunderland (April 19).
Aston Villa’s last top-four finish was in the 2023/24 season, and their subsequent Champions League campaign saw them earn automatic qualification to the knockout rounds after finishing eighth in the 36-team group phase.
Villa subsequently recorded wins over Bayern Munich, Bologna, and RB Leipzig before being eliminated by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG) in the quarterfinals.
