Villa Climb to Third After Brighton Win

Aston Villa faced a tough test last night as they travelled away to face a seventh placed Brighton side that were unbeaten in their last four games (3W, 1D).

Villa found themselves 2-0 down after 29 minutes, but responded almost immediately through two Ollie Watkins goals to go into the half-time break at 2-2.

Villa then grabbed two second-half goals through Amadou Onana and Donyell Malen to go 4-2 ahead, before Brighton pulled one goal back to make the final result 4-3.

The result sent Villa up into third place in the league, overtaking a Chelsea side that lost 3-1 to Leeds United ($LUFC) on the same night.

Aston Villa are now three points ahead of fourth placed Chelsea, and just one point behind second placed Manchester City ($CITY)

The next league match in two days’ time sees Villa host Arsenal in a match that could move the Villains within just three points of the league leader.
