Flamengo’s League and Cup Double Seals 33% Season Gains for $MENGO

Flamengo sealed the Brasileirão Serie A title with a 1-0 win over Ceara on Dec. 4, making it two titles in less than a week after they beat Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores final on Nov. 29.
The Flamengo Fan Token ($MENGO) had a tumultuous year in which it spiked and dipped in reaction to on-pitch results, competition wins, and broader market conditions.
So while the Rubro-Negro celebrate their league and cup double, let’s take a look at how the $MENGO token reacted to Flamengo’s performances throughout the year.
Flamengo Fan Token’s ($MENGO) Season Review
At the beginning of the Brasileirão Serie A season earlier this year, the price of the Flamengo Fan Token ($MENGO) stood at $0.063.
Now, on Dec. 4, after Flamengo sealed the title with a 1-0 over Ceara, the $MENGO price stands at $0.084 – marking 33% growth over the course of the season.
A common saying in the crypto space goes: “Buy the rumour; sell the news.”
Given that Flamengo were the favourites to win the league title before the season kicked off, it could be the case that Flamengo’s title win was already priced into $MENGO token to some extent, and that its growth might have been even greater had the title win come as a surprise.
Copa Libertadores Build-Up
A good example of this can be seen in the weeks leading up to the Copa Libertadores final.
From Nov. 4 until Nov. 29 (the day of the final), the price of the $MENGO token increased by 20%.
On the day the final was set to take place, before the match had even kicked off, the price of the $MENGO token suddenly dropped by 12.5%.

This suggests that traders strongly favoured a win for Flamengo, and were willing to cash out their 20% gains before the result came in and other traders sold the news before they could.
Another good example which shows the same concept in reverse was the build-up to the Club World Cup earlier this summer.
Club World Cup Surprise
With a number of major European clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Inter Milan and Paris-Saint Germain playing in the Club World Cup, the general expectation surrounding the tournament was that the European giants would dominate the competition.
In the weeks leading up to the Club World Cup, the price of the $MENGO token sank by 20%.
However, as Flamengo went on to top their qualifying group, the token’s fortunes suddenly turned around. In fact, on the day that Flamengo beat Chelsea 3-1, the $MENGO token price jumped 12.5% in just a matter of hours.
Numerous Brazilian Fan Tokens showed similar patterns during the Club World Cup, as every Brazilian team in the competition ended up qualifying from the group stage, and, in the specific case of Fluminense ($FLU) and Palmeiras ($VERDAO), reached the quarter-finals.
Flamengo on the Rise
Under the guidance of former Flamengo left-back Filipe Luis, the club also won the Copa do Brasil in 2024, followed by the Supercopa do Brazil in 2025, and the Campeonato Carioca in 2025.
The five trophies won by Flamengo with Filipe Luis as manager adds to the nine trophies that Luis won with the club as a player.
Later this month, Flamengo are set to face Mexican side Cruz Azul in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup quarter-finals. If they win they will face Egyptian side Pyramids, followed by a potential meeting with PSG in the final.
In February, Flamengo will meet Argentinian side Lanus in the Recopa Sudamericana final, providing the opportunity for yet more silverware.
